Late at night, when you came home and entered the door, the lights in the room quietly lit up, the rice cooker heated up, the curtains slowly closed, and the smart speakers played your favorite music... With the advent of the smart home era, the ordinary life has added a touch of science fiction.

Recently, UDE2019 International Display Expo opened in Shanghai New International Expo Center. At the "2019 China 8K Ultra HD Industry Leaders Summit and AIoT Future Life Forum" held at the same time, smart home has become an unavoidable topic.

Nowadays, household products labeled "smart" emerge in endlessly, such as smart door locks, smart makeup mirrors, smart ovens, smart fans, smart range hoods, etc. Among them, some so-called "intelligent functions" are often complained by consumers: "You can turn on the rice cooker by pressing the switch. Why do you want to find an APP on your mobile phone for a long time?"

So, what is real High end soft decoration Smart home products? How to avoid "thunder" when purchasing smart home products? How can smart home enterprises find the right starting point? The reporter of Science and Technology Daily interviewed relevant industry experts. European classic The decoration of the style gives people a delicate and fashionable visual feeling as a whole, and the integration of classical feelings adds a lasting appeal, which is elegant and atmospheric.

Smart home, your "intelligence" is a bit deep

Being able to analyze and process data is true intelligence

What is true intelligence?

"The core of smart home is to connect the data of different terminals through the Internet of Things, and at the same time solve the problem of home products' digitization, so that home products can better meet user needs and improve the use experience." Sun Xiaoyong, Secretary General of the Information and Science and Technology Committee of China Building Decoration Association, said in an interview with the Science and Technology Daily, Smart home products analyze the collected data and automatically start a series of modes applicable to different devices, which is called intellectualization.

Industry insiders agree with this. "It needs to be clear that intelligence is the empowerment of home. When the user enters the room, the air conditioner automatically turns on; when the bracelet detects that the user is sleeping, the surrounding appliances automatically enter the sleep mode. The value of smart home is that it automatically adjusts according to the user's lifestyle. It provides a non sensory experience, that is, it integrates into your life and mine, but does not cause Interference. " Wang Dan, software product manager of Beijing Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Xiaomi), said in an interview with Science and Technology Daily.

Sun Xiaoyong took the smart refrigerator as an example to explain to the reporter of Science and Technology Daily what "intelligence" is. "A real smart refrigerator should be able to tell you when the eggs were put in, how many eggs were inside, and when they will expire. Only household products with the ability of 'thinking' and data analysis can be called smart labels. The 'thinking' of smart homes is to analyze data to find out user needs and try to meet these needs." Sun Xiaoyong stressed that, The real smart home has adaptive functions, not just a "smart" label.

"In a word, real intelligence is to make universal home products connected with the Internet of Things. On this basis, home products can effectively process and analyze data." Sun Xiaoyong explained.

Relevant industry standards are in the process of brewing

The 2018 White Paper on the Development of China's Smart Home Industry released this year shows that China's smart home market penetration rate is 4.9%, while the United States has reached 32.0% in the same period. At present, the pattern of the smart home market has not been determined, and major manufacturers are actively planning to occupy the high spot.

Industry standards are undoubtedly one of the most important "rules of the game" for entrants.

Sun Xiaoyong revealed to the reporter of Science and Technology Daily that the China Building Decoration Association is promoting the standardization and standardization of the smart home industry. "We are drafting standards in this regard to make products, services and acceptance more standardized, and establish relevant construction systems, specifications and acceptance standards. This is equivalent to establishing a 'game rule'."

In addition, for the smart home industry, which is still in the development stage, in order to realize the standardized design and production of products, in addition to rules, it is also inseparable from enterprise self-discipline and market supervision. "In addition, consumers' recognition of the products and the correct guidance of the media are also crucial," said Sun Xiaoyong.

"At present, there is no very precise and recognized definition of smart home in the industry. I personally think the industry does not have to define it. Five years ago, consumers might think smart home is still a joke, but now many people will say that it has changed our way of life." Xiaomi Marketing Director Zhao Gang told Science and Technology Daily.

Some people will worry that consumers will buy "smart home" products that are not intelligent when the standards have not yet been introduced. Wang Dan thinks this possibility is relatively small. "First of all, before most products are launched, manufacturers must ensure that their quality is up to standard, meet the requirements of national standards, and meet certain needs. In addition, there are some default standards in the industry, and consumers are unlikely to be cheated."

Zhao Gang said that if the products have no intelligent function but are labeled "intelligent", "it would be better to give them to the market". If an enterprise makes incorrect or false marketing and publicity for its products, the market will naturally eliminate these products and their manufacturers.

Manufacturers should have independent research and development capabilities

So, what kind of products can stand the market test?

Zhao Gang said that poor user experience, limited connecting devices and expensive prices may all affect ordinary users' choice of products.

"When a user buys a product, he must value the basic attributes of the device itself. If the air conditioner is not refrigerated after purchase, even if it can be controlled by voice, what's the use? So before buying a smart home product, consumers should give priority to the quality of the product, whether it meets the demand, and whether it can solve problems in real life, followed by the smart selling points of the manufacturer." Wang Dan said frankly.

Sun Xiaoyong also mentioned that in the past, consumers might impulse to buy conceptual intelligent products. "But today, consumers are becoming more rational and more inclined to buy practical products. Sun Xiaoyong suggested that smart home related manufacturers should clarify their product positioning and not lose their way in the market, otherwise they are likely to enter the wrong area of product development." Air conditioners should first be thin and practical, rather than large and beautiful, "he said.

"After finding the right position, we can successfully break through the tight encirclement with our own core technologies." Sun Xiaoyong said that enterprises can independently research and develop hard core technologies, or purchase technologies with intellectual property rights. "This core technology refers to data analysis and processing and supporting related technologies."

In order to get a share in the smart home field, Sun Xiaoyong suggested that enterprises should also have independent research and development capabilities, because at present some key core technologies are still in the hands of foreign manufacturers; Secondly, it is necessary to integrate a complete product system, strengthen in-depth professional technical services, and improve scene planning capabilities.

In addition to improving their technical strength, manufacturers should also keep pace with the times and constantly upgrade their products. "Enterprises should strengthen research and development, study future trends, meet and lead user needs." Sun Xiaoyong stressed that smart home should keep pace with the development of Internet, 5G and other technologies. "To be a real smart home product, we must understand and apply new technologies."

Zhao Gang said that smart home products still need "practice", need to be "fed" a lot of data, and continue to strengthen "learning". These exercises take a long time. "But I believe that with the improvement of intelligent devices, cloud and terminal computing capabilities, smart homes will not be too far away from the day when they become truly intelligent," he said.
